Past Perfect Tense

Past Perfect digunakan untuk menyatakan kegiatan yang sudah selesai dikerjakan pada masa lampau, ketika tindakan yang lainnya terjadi.

•Tenses ini ditandai oleh peristiwa lain yang terjadi dimasa lampau.

•Adverb of time (Keterangan waktu):

  before, when, after, until.

a.  Kalimat Verbal

     (+ ) S + had + V3 + c/o/A

     (- ) S + had not+ V3 + c/o/A

     (?) had + S + V3 + C/O/A

b.Kalimat Nominal

  (+ ) S + had + been+ c

     (- ) S + had not+ been + c

     (?) had + S + been + C

Keterangan waktu:

•For……..when / after/before + V2

Example:

  1. Rudi had studied English for 2 hours before I  

        came.

  2. I had listened to the radio when someone

        knocked on the door.

Example for verbal:

•+ I had gone to Jakarta before I met her

•- I had not gone to Jakarta before I met her

•? Had you gone to Jakarta before you met her?

Example for nominal

•+ she had been in Jakarta before she got the bad news

•- she had not been in Jakarta before she got the bad   

       news

•?  Had she been in Jakarta before she got the bad 

        news?
